Adoptable Greyhounds
Kindred Spirits adoptable greyhounds
are fostered prior to re-homing. The first two weeks of the
adoption process spent in your home are considered a trial
period. If for any reason during these 2 weeks, you or
Kindred Spirits Greyhound Adoption feel that the adoption is not
a good match, the dog may be returned and your adoption fee will
be returned to you. Our adoption fee is $250.00 which
includes spay/neuter, Heartworm Test, Dental, DHLPP, Bordetella
and 1 year Rabies vaccines, worming and a freshly bathed
greyhound!!
The first step
in our adoption process is to do your research. Read the
information on our website, visit our links, and learn all that
you can about retired racers. After you have educated yourself
a little bit, then please print out one of our applications and
send it to us.
After we receive it, review it, and call your
references, we will get in touch with you a to set up a date for
a home visit. At the time of the home visit we may (or may not
depending on the availability of the foster family) bring along
the dog that we feel will best fit your family.

Whistle Williams here, my friends all call me Willie and I’ll consider you my friend after coming to look at this website. I'm three years old and I’ve been told that I will make some lucky person a fabulous pet. I have tons of personality and a happy outlook on life as a whole. I'm a pretty big boy with long legs and feet like snowshoes, but at heart I'm really an old softie. I enjoy hugs and kisses from people and I will love you forever if you rub my ears. I've recently been living in a foster home with another greyhound. She's almost 12 and sometimes she surprises me with her agility and I have to really hustle to keep up. We get along good, sometimes she even leaves a bit of food in her dish for me. I love food. My biggest fault (not in my opinion though) is that I am not small animal safe so I won't be good for a home with a cat or other small animal. Darcy is a wonderful hound who is just starting to come out of his shell in his foster home. He needs time to settle into a new place, but once he feels comfortable is a loving playful companion. He loves to go for walks, play with his toys, and have his neck scratched. Darcy is cat and small dog appropriate, but would be most comfortable in a home with a quiet companion or he would probably be best with only one other dog. Small children seem to make him a bit nervous so he would do better in a home with children over the age of 7. This beautiful boy will make someone a very loving companion.
Nicky and Penny are greyhound mixes who were dumped in a field and left to fend for themselves. They are very young, around 1-2 years of age and
we believe they are brother and sister. They are quite bonded and we would love to find a family who can adopt both of them so they can stay together forever. Both are very sweet and playful, good with other dogs
and small animals but probably to active for very small children. They are very shy and afraid of new situations so it will take them some time to adjust to a new home. A fenced in yard is a must for these two.
The perfect dog! Blackjack is a 10 year old who has come to us from a family who could no longer keep him. He is therapy dog certified and just a perfect gentleman. He gets along well with pretty much everyone (including cats and small dogs), loves attention and is very laid back. He even waits when he comes in from outside to have his feet wiped!!
As an older dog he has some problems with arthritis, but overall gets along very well. Blackjack would make the perfect companion for someone looking for a calm, quiet dog.
Odie (racing name Sea Travel) is a beautiful, sweet, happy boy. He is good with cats and small dogs and has one of those tails that never stops wagging. Just recently off the track, Odie has settled into retired life very easily and will make someone a wonderful happy go lucky companion.
Walker is a young handsome boy. He loves to take long walks and runs in his fenced in yard. Walker likes to cuddle up and put his head in your lap on the couch. He is not small animal appropriate and would do best in a home with no small children. He is currently in foster care with cindy@kindredspiritsgreyhoundadoption.com Lemella is a sweet 10 year old brood mama that has come to us from a breeding farm in Kansas. She is just settling into her new foster home and we will have more information on her available soon.
Andy is a very striking young male. He is only 2 1/2 years old and LOVES to play, but sometimes in his exuberance for life forgets how big and strong he is and plays a little rough. For this reason we would recommend that Andy go to a home with older children. He has tested cat safe and has been in an environment with cats but needs supervision with smaller animals as his play instinct extends to running kitties as well. With limits set to guide his behavior Andy will make some family a wonderful pet.
Dolly is a petite female whose Forida foster family has fallen in love with her! She will arrive in CNY on Monday the 19th and we will have more information available on her then. Dolly is cat appropriate.
Ellie is a senior girl who is just a sweetheart, she is good with kids and other dogs. She is a nice girl who loves her walks and gets along with everyone.
